Clinical research applications

Appik Studio builds mobile and web tools for research teams around CHUV, HUG, UNIL and EPFL, starting with how people work and the software already in place.

Our collaborations in health research

These projects illustrate our software contribution within research collaborations.

smartCervix

Mobile collection · Image classification

A mobile application for collecting and classifying images within a research project on cervical cancer screening.

Developed with EPFL LTS5 and HUG.

Tools for your study

Participant applications
Questionnaires and longitudinal follow-up, with journeys suited to participants and the study schedule. We define how the application should work with your team.
Dashboards and exports
Interfaces to review data and monitor collection. We define exports and connections to existing tools around your team’s analysis needs and working practices.
Evaluate AI or voice interaction
Where the project warrants it, we can assess conversational or voice interaction. Its usefulness, limitations and evaluation need to be established before integration.
Prepare for continuity
Documentation, code handover and maintenance within an agreed scope. Your team knows who is responsible and how development can continue after delivery.

A collaboration in stages

  1. Understand the starting point

We review usage, the prototype and constraints with you. Scoping establishes priorities, responsibilities and the criteria your team will use to assess the work.

  2. Design and test

Designs and testable versions give your team opportunities to provide feedback. We agree on adjustments together before moving to the next stage.

  3. Deliver and hand over

We prepare deployment, access and documentation. Maintenance or an internal takeover is planned with the people who will be responsible for the application.

Define data handling during scoping

We review the necessary data and its flows with the project team. Hosting and service choices depend on the agreed scope and requirements.

  • Define access permissions and retention periods with your team.
  • Assess providers, including those handling voice and AI.
  • Configure Swiss hosting according to the project and examine each connected service.

Your questions

Which teams do you work with?

Clinical teams, laboratories and research project leads who need a mobile or web tool, in Lausanne and beyond.

Can you start with our existing prototype?

Yes. We examine its code, usage and dependencies before proposing what to keep, strengthen or develop. The existing work informs the next steps.

How do you approach data and AI?

We start with the project’s data flows and constraints. An AI feature requires an assessment of its outputs, providers and the data sent to them.

Can we meet before defining the project?

Yes, at our Lausanne offices or by video. An objective and an explanation of where you are starting are enough to begin the conversation.

What tool does your team need?

Tell us about your goal, users or prototype. We will examine the next step with you.
