A birthday sometimes deserves more than a message written at the last minute. A gift idea, a photo or a detail remembered from a conversation can help make it personal, provided you can find it when the date approaches.

Bonani is a free birthday organizer designed and developed by Appik Studio for iOS and Android. It brings together the dates to remember and the ideas that make them meaningful. The birth year is optional, because knowing someone's birthday does not always mean knowing their age.

Keep upcoming birthdays in view

The calendar and upcoming birthdays view show which dates are approaching. Search helps you find a person, while a small widget keeps upcoming dates visible on the home screen. Local reminders arrive at the time you choose, so you can plan a call or prepare a gift around your routine.

To start with your address book, you choose which contact birthdays to import. A preview comes before confirmation, giving you a chance to check the selection before adding dates to Bonani.

Personal ideas stay on your phone

Notes and photos accompany each birthday. You can save a gift idea or a memory to help write a personal message, without searching through several conversations.

In version 1.0, Bonani works offline, with no account, advertising, cloud or usage analytics. Birthdays, notes and photos stay on the device. A JSON backup includes photos so you can keep a copy of your data. Restore shows a preview before you confirm.

A 100% native app on each platform

We built Bonani with Swift and SwiftUI for iOS, and Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Android. This lets us adapt navigation and interactions to the habits people already have on each phone. Checking a date, editing a note or setting a reminder follows the platform's everyday patterns.

The work illustrates our approach to mobile app development, with one product and an experience designed for each operating system.

A product developed within the studio

Bonani is part of our Product Lab. We defined the product, designed the journeys and interfaces, and developed both native apps around one need, making time to think about someone before their birthday.

The app and its website are offered in French, English and German.
