Context

Engagement: since 2023.

The Prix de Lausanne is an international dance competition for young talent, based in Lausanne. Around the competition, it also runs a Summer Intensive and video pre-selections, including one for the YCA programme.

Appik Studio develops the digital tools for these programmes: the forum that connects dance schools and candidates, then the jury scoring application. Appik team: Mathilde, Gaspard and Livio.

The Networking Forum

  • Dance schools and candidates browse each other's profiles and state their preferences.
  • The Prix team then publishes the selected meetings, which everyone finds in the application.
  • A web administration tool lets the team prepare and follow the forum.
  • The forum is prepared before each edition, with automated tests of the complete journeys.

The jury scoring application

Since November 2025, one application has served the Prix de Lausanne, the Summer Intensive and the Prix and YCA pre-selections. Each programme runs in its own environment, with its own database.

  • Jurors score from a dedicated interface; jury administrators open and close sessions.
  • The Prix team prepares candidates, groups and sessions, then exports the results to Excel.
  • During the Prix 2026, the application ran in parallel with the existing scoring system, so its results could be compared without any risk to the competition.
  • In July 2026, the Summer Intensive jurors scored on iPads with the application.
  • If the connection drops during a session, each juror can export the scores entered on their device.
  • For pre-selections, videos are anonymised and numbered directly in the browser, without being uploaded to a server.

Hosting and continuity

  • The applications are hosted in Switzerland with Infomaniak, with a separate database for each programme.
  • Backups are checked with test restores.
  • A written incident procedure guides the team, and a person can activate a backup site if an outage occurs.

What this changes for the Prix

  • The team runs its programmes with the same tools from one edition to the next.
  • Jury scores and meetings rely on data hosted in Switzerland and on procedures known before the event.
