Bonani privacy policy
Updated on 3 October 2026
Bonani is a birthday notebook for iPhone, iPad and Android. This policy covers version 1.0, which works offline without an account.
Who publishes Bonani?
Appik Studio Sàrl, Lausanne, Switzerland, publishes Bonani. For questions about your data, email contact@appik-studio.ch.
Your notebook data
You can save a name, birthday day and month, an optional birth year, a private note and an optional photo. Bonani stores this information and your reminder settings in the app’s storage on your device.
Bonani does not send your notebook to Appik Studio. This version has no account, synchronisation, backup on our servers, advertising or remote usage analytics service.
Permissions
On iOS and Android, Bonani asks for your permission to read contacts only when you choose to import birthdays. Search and selection take place on your device, using the contacts the system allows you to access. Bonani copies only the name, birthday and small photo of the people you select. It does not change your contacts or import their phone numbers, email addresses, other addresses or notes.
When you choose a photo, the system picker lets you select the image to add. Bonani keeps a small copy in your notebook. You can manage permissions in your device settings.
You can deny access to contacts and continue adding people manually. To allow access later, open your device settings and then Bonani’s permissions.
Reminders and the widget
With your permission, the system displays local birthday notifications. Bonani does not use a server to send these reminders. They may display the name and birthday information, but never your private note.
The widget uses only a summary of the next birthday. It may display the name and date, without the private note. This information may be visible on your device’s screen. You can turn off reminders or remove the widget.
Backups you export
You can export your notebook as a JSON file. The file contains names, birthdays, birth years, notes, small photos and reminder settings. Bonani does not encrypt this file.
You choose where to save the file and whom to share it with. If you save it to an online storage service, that service’s own terms apply. Keep your backups in a safe place. Import shows a preview and asks for confirmation before replacing your notebook.
Retention and deletion
Records remain on your device for as long as you keep them. You can edit or delete them in Bonani. Deleting a record also removes its photo from the notebook and its local reminders.
Deleting the app removes its local data. Previously exported files and any copies in system backups remain under your control. Delete them separately if you also wish to remove them. On iOS, device backups may include Bonani data depending on your Apple settings.
If you contact support
If you email us, we receive your email address and message to handle your request. We keep them for as long as needed to follow up and meet our legal obligations. Do not attach your notebook or other people’s data when reporting a problem.
You can request access to, correction or deletion of information you have sent us at contact@appik-studio.ch. Appik Studio cannot access or remotely change the notebook stored on your device.
Apple, Google and this web page
Apple and Google may provide Appik Studio with aggregate statistics about downloads and use of their stores. Diagnostics you choose to share with your operating system are governed by Apple or Google settings and policies. They do not provide access to your notebook’s contents.
This web page does not load advertising, cookies or analytics tools. Its hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical information needed to serve the page, such as your IP address and web request. The general Appik Studio website has its own privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if Bonani’s operation or the practices described here change. The date at the top of the page shows the last update.
